Greetings to you all!
My name is Carol Rix. I am a retired hospital Chaplain. My husband, Tom and I
live in a small community in Northern Illinois called Spring Grove. It’s about
fifty miles NW of Chicago and five miles south of the Wisconsin border.
Tom and I have been involved with IHRA for about seven years. Many of you know
us from the Top Stock Class. He began with a Silver 1972 Buick GS and later
raced a Red 1974 Buick Appollo. We attended many of the national events and
started racing at division events in 2006.
We fell in love with IHRA immediately. The family atmosphere and feeling wanted
and welcomed had us hooked. We attended the Sunday services every time we could.
I always walked away so blessed and had this feeling in my heart that maybe
someday I could do that! In 2007 we were at Byron, IL and Mike Imhoff was the
Chaplain. On Saturday I introduced myself to Mike and told him that I was a
Chaplain at our local hospital. On Sunday we attended his service and he asked
to speak with me! And as they say, the rest is history! I have had the
opportunity to do one service at Osceola, IN. in 2007 and I am looking forward
to 2008 and meeting all of you and bringing the love of our Lord and Savior
Jesus Christ and His Word to all.
God Speed Ministry is devoted to serving God and all His creation. And we feel
blessed to be a part of the vision and future it has. We are praying for the
peace of God that surpasses all understanding to be with you all, and for safety
in your traveling!
God Speed,
Carol & Tom Rix
Cordova Pro Am Chapel Service Report - June 18, 2006
I have sent a few pictures from Chapel service and
also a picture of Dan Driscoll with his head shaved. On Saturday afternoon, they
announced that anyone who wanted to pay $10.00 could come and take a swipe with
a razor off of Dan's head. They raised $800.00 for our racer, Jeff Stealy who
has cancer and Scott added $200.00 more to make it an even $1,000.00 - It was
quite a scene and we think it was wonderful of Dan to do this. He is very good
friends with Jeff and he was quite emotional when I took his picture.
Dan Driscoll, (also loving known as Dumpster Dan) is the head tech man at the
track. You may know him from Norwalk. He has worked there also. I think you have
mentioned Jeff Stealy on the God Speed website.
The service was very nice. We had quite a rain storm during the service which
gave us all more time to visit and share afterwards. It was Father's day so we
played some good Promise Keepers music. "Rise up O Men of God" and "Find Us
Faithful" by Steve Green. There were about 35 in attendance even after they
raced until 1:00 that morning! We passed out the words to the music for the men
to keep and also some tracts about Father's. On the resource table we had some
things for fathers from the Christian Book Store. CD holders, "Jesus" film
videos, and also some Christian Motorsports magazines. Floyd gave a great talk
about the influence a father has on his children. He prayed with two of the men
afterwards and one of our Midwest Super Comp racers who was in Chapel found him
later on in the day and asked him some deep spiritual questions. Floyd will be
answering him this coming weekend at the Slingshot Nationals. We're thinking
about having a Saturday night "Stump the Chaplain" meeting! One of our Christian
racers suggested this several years ago. Not a bad idea.
It was a blessed time and naturally, faithful Joe Stillings was in his spot on
the back row. He never misses a service.
There were no small children, so once again I didn't get to do children's
church, but my picnic bench by the fifth wheel was soaked anyway. I was going
to hold the Children's church there. Smaller children came in when Floyd was
just about done, so we passed out some of the packages.
Blessings,
Diana (for Floyd too)

Cedar Falls Chapel Service Report May 21, 2006
Hi Gary & Renee,
Here are some pictures of the chapel service at Cedar Falls. It was COLD, WINDY,
and a small service. But everyone seemed happy and thankful when they left. One
comment was, "Great start to our day". Joe Stillings said, "Just right!"
Another man said thank you over and over. We were so happy to have been there
ministering to the racers. Mike Klemme wanted a Bible for the tower and he took
all kinds of things from the resource table for his children and wife. Praise
God!!!
There were only 20 adults and two children, but we were a mighty group!
Also, the only children there came in during the middle of the service and the
little boy was eating pancakes, so I didn't get to do my children's church! I
was really looking forward to it. We did give out packets to some of the
children walking around the grandstands after the service. The children were so
excited! Especially one little girl who ran to her mother to show her. This
opened up a nice conversation between the mother and myself! Praise the Lord!
Her mother was very impressed with the little package and the information
inside. You may want to pass that along to your daughter!
:-)
God bless and love to all!
Diana (for Floyd too)
P.S. Love Floyd risking life and limb to get that banner up!
:-D

The title of the message was "On Standby" and Rev. Floyd's scripture was Luke
12:35-40. It was a great anointed service.

Expenses for Broken Vessel was $50.00
Would you like to be part of the chapel services? We are looking for
people who are willing to sing in the choir, lead or help with a children's
ministry, do special music - sing or instrumental, help with chapel services in
any way. If you are interested, email us at
renee@godspeedministry.com
and include the following:
Name
Phone number
Division
What you want to do and at which race or races
Your name will be added to the list below as we compile a data base of
resources for chapel services. We will not include your phone number on
the web but will keep it on file for divisional chaplains.
Each division will grow their chapel service to be uniquely theirs yet still
an essential part of God Speed Ministry. We realize that many people
attend local divisional races but never attend a national event. That is
why each division will have their own community of faith and still be a part of
the larger community of God Speed.
May God's richest blessings be yours. May you know His peace (wholeness
- nothing broken, nothing lacking), incredible love, forgiveness and abundant
life on this earth and in heaven above.

This is a special picture... We did a benefit for a cancer patient this year
and I was very surprised to win "The People's Choice Award" out of about 300
cars... It was the first trophy I ever received with the car.
...I have been to several semi-final rounds, but I am waiting patiently for my
first win :) The sun is blocking the lettering but on our fender it say's
"In God We Trust"
Take care, Ron & Peggy Brindisi Phil. 3:14
