But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.

Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.

Kim Parsons' dad is scheduled for surgery at 1pm on Wednesday. He will be having an MRI and then off to have the tumor removed. It is a 5 hour surgery, with as you can imagine many complications. Please keep us in your prayers. My mom is a wreck and so am I. The only thing we have going for us is that my dad does great in surgery. He always, always comes out good and is one tough cookie! I am praying that God guides the surgeons hands and no mistakes are made.   8-19-08

Prayer & Praise:

I'm sure that most of you know by now that my husband, Chip Horton, was in a three wheeler accident, Sunday evening, 7/13/08.  At H and H ATV Ride Park and wearing NO helmet, flipped, going over the handle bars, landing face down with the three wheeler on top of him and losing consciousness. Chip had to be airlifted to Savannah, GA. @ Memorial Medical Center's Trauma Unit, with a brain bleed, head trauma, fractured neck, and severe nausea.  I want to tell you just how good God really is...  by the time Chip reached the trauma unit at Memorial Medical Center in Savannah, which by the way took approx. 21 minutes by air.  Dr's in the trauma unit performed another CT scan and the brain bleed was no worse but looked better than the CT scan that was done in Jesup @ Wayne Memorial Hospital.  Chip spent the rest of the night and the better part of Mon. in the Neurovascular Intermediate Care Unit (NVI), so that he could be monitored closely.  He was moved to a regular room Mon. evening and I brought him home Tues. afternoon.  Chip's Neuro Dr. told us not to worry about the brain bleed, the brain would absorb it and his neck will be fine!!! Other than being a little skinned up and bruised from one end to the other...thank God he is OK.
Had I known he was going to the park to act like Evil Knievel...I would have made him stay home! LOL
We really appreciate all the concern, the many prayers, phone calls, and visits.  We are truly blessed and have once again been spared from the snare of the enemy!  Chip has already been asked how many lives he has. He truly has purpose for being here, otherwise we would have lost him multiple times ago.  I thank God for what he has done in Chip's life and for sparing him.  Please continue to pray for Chip, that he will regain his strength and walk in God's precepts.

God is good all the time...

June 2008 Prayer Requests

From Jaime Choate who told me that the Hubbard family worked hard on behalf of Cameron and her medical expenses:
Zach Scott,
21 year old son of Mark and Carol Scott of Hubbard, was severely injured last weekend on the way to join a church mission trip after his brother's wedding. His neck was broken in two places and he also has a spinal cord injury. His coworkers at Sam's Club in Bellmead have set up a website to help this family and to keep us all apprised of Zach's condition.       It is www.ZachScottBenefit.com .
Zach is a nice and hard-working young man from a good family. They request your continuing prayers during this ordeal. Please send this out to others, so that they can help out if they see fit.

Wanda Peppler passed on to glory on Sunday, 6-29-08. She had just been diagnosed with lung cancer last week. Please pray for Jim and the Peppler family as they mourn.

Please keep my niece Missy Soto, of Garland, TX, in your prayers. Missy is very weak from the cancer, and we nearly lost her on Wednesday. I went up to Dallas to see her today, and she was doing a little better, but her final days are approaching. She is at peace and is ready in her heart, but her body is not quite ready and I guess God is not quite ready for her to go home just yet. This is very difficult for my sister and brother-in-law, but they are being strong for Missy. They are taking care of her at home, as well as her sister, who is a nurse, and with hospice care as well. Missy is only 44 years old and has an 18 yr old daughter Alex. I ask that you keep all of them in your prayers as they face some difficult days ahead of them. Chaplain Sylvia Maedgen.

Colby, age 10, and Cameron, age 7, lost their mother Friday night. Please keep them in your prayers as they prepare for her funeral on Monday. Also pray for their stepmother as she prepares to take the roll in their life of someone who can never be replaced.

Steve came home from the hospital and has regained some sight. Continue to pray for him as he recovers from his stroke.

Chaplain Janette Guy had knee replacement surgery 6-30. Please pray for her as she recovers and goes through therapy.

April Van Dyke had a baby boy, Seth Van Dyke, Wednesday, 6-25-08.   Seth was a CHD baby. Basically he has a hernia that has pushed all of his organs to where they are not suppose to be and due to this the baby's lungs and other organs have not developed. Some of the doctors are not giving a very good prognosis for baby Seth. I know that Our Father is the ultimate Healer!!   Please lift Seth Van Dyke and his family up in prayer.  6-28-08

(Chaplain Pat Finder) Just wanted the RFC Prayer Team to pray for the management at Cedar Falls Raceway. The track was completely under water from the floods and it's been two weeks now and there is still water on the return road. The septic system has problems and the electric for the track is questionable. We ask that God would put his blessing on the owners during this time and encourage them through this. They attend chapel every time and are truly a blessing to my ministry. This has been a very hard start for us this spring with all the weather but we still see God's greatness in it all.
Editor's Note: Scott Gardner, CFR owner, is a strong brother in Christ, and I ask, too, that we hold him up as he goes through this trying time.

(Chaplains Larry and Linda Smiley)
We are officiating the Memorial Service of Scott Kalitta. The only public service will be this Thurs. at 7:00 p.m. at the Ernsthausen Performing Arts Center at 350 Shady Lane, Norwalk, OH 44857.
God is giving us His strength and we are very grateful! Please keep the Kalitta family and race teams in your prayers. They sat out the rest of the Englishtown race, but at this time, they plan to race in Norwalk.
One crew member from another team has received Christ since the accident. Praise God! We are praying and expecting God to do great things in lives through this tragedy.

Mari Ed, wife of TS racer Jay Zimmermann, is recovering from surgery.

Steve Dale, a dear friend of Tim Hight of the Jay Zimmerman TS team, is in the hospital and is totally blind. They think he had a stoke and the only affect of it was to his vision. Praying for healing.  Update:  the MRI confirmed that Steve did have a stroke. That he had a silent stroke( I don’t know exactly what that means) a couple of days before the stroke on Monday afternoon. At this point, his vision has improved slightly. They still do not know if his current vision will allow him to drive. He will be in the hospital until his PT (way they measure the clotting of the blood) indicates that the Coumadin (blood thinner) is working correctly.
Please continue to keep Susan and Steve in your prayers.

Pray for Joey Keith as he ministers at the CDRA event in Tulsa OK this weekend.

Pray for Chaplain Janette Guy as she undergoes knee replacement surgery June 30.

Chaplain Carol Rix - First; I have been to a few doctors this past week (including an Orthopedic Doctor) and the diagnosis so far is arthritis! And thank God there are no breaks or tears in my knee or my ankle. I have had a high rheumatoid factor blood test, so now we are trying to figure out if it's RA or OA. The fall made it flair up and the ankle is just a bad sprain. So now I will start physical therapy and see how that goes and possibly cortisone injections, unless of course it's RA, then I will have to see an RA Doctor! But that's where we are right now and I'm doing pretty good, but I do use a walker or a cane to get around just to be sure I don't fall again! But, I am determined that God still wants me to be at the race track! We have a golf cart for me to get around in. So it would be no different that sitting at home! And, God knows, how much that would depress me! So, much prayer is needed!

(From RFC Chaplain Lee Cooperman) Wally Stroupe has Eosinophilic Esophagitis. It has to do with the white blood cells having some deformation which causes them to form a ring in the esophagus. It may be caused by his asthma. It causes the throat to tighten up so that he can not swallow. He had surgery a month ago but it was a temporary fix. He is going back to the doctor on July 14th to get checked. He may have to have his throat stretched periodically from now on. He needs prayer for a permanent healing!!!!

Travis' Father passed on from this life a little over a year ago after spending 8 years in a coma from a car crash. Tragic and ironic. Travis always said he didn't want to be like his Dad and that if anything ever happened to him like that to just let him go. Travis and my nephew were best friends in high school and Travis spent a lot of time with my family. We will miss him but thank God that Travis is in a far better place that we can ever imagine. From Chaplain Carol Rix: I need prayer! On Friday while we were sitting in the lot waiting to be let in to the track I stepped out of the trailer and fell down on my right knee and heard it pop and crunch! I spent most of the rest of the weekend in the trailer with ice on my knee. Then after riding home for 8 hours in the truck yesterday, when I got home, I realized that my left foot was swollen too! So I must have done something to it also! Will let you know what the doctor says.

Update on Doug West:
Dear Family and Friends,

Doug's recovery has been miraculous. When I last wrote you on Wednesday, May 28, Doug was still in Neuro Intensive Care. By that time he was awake and recognizing people and carrying on rational conversations, but he did not remember that the next day or if he took a nap in between visits.

On Thursday, May 29 (1 week after the accident on May 22), he was taken to orthopaedic surgery for his right arm. What was suppose to be 1 1/2 hr operation became a 4 1/2 hr operation. In addition to the 10 breaks in his right arm between the elbow and wrist, a break or 2 in his upper arm, a shattered elbow, they discovered 2 breaks in his wrist. After surgery he was taken to a private room on another floor with unlimited visiting hours. I was there pretty much 24/7. He was in a lot of pain after the arm surgery and his right leg hurt, we assumed from the bruise on his hip all the way down his right leg. After a day or two and lots of pain medicine, he was able to tolerate the pain. He still reacted to visitors and knew everyone but did not retain the visits or the conversations. The last thing he remembers is talking with his boss late in the afternoon on the day of the accident. It was not until this past Monday or Tuesday that he has begun to remember the day before and he remembers what he has been told about the accident.

On Wednesday the cast was removed from his right arm. The scar from the surgery is long and ugly. It looks like a Frankenstein scar. It runs all the way down the back of his right arm.

His Occupational Therapist devised a device to keep his fingers apart. Think of it as one of the toe separators we girls use when we paint our toes, except this does not keep the fingers as far apart as the toe separator. This device will help Doug relearn to open his hands and spread his fingers. The nerve that controls that movement has gone to sleep. The doctor thinks it will awake on its own, but if not, then another surgery will be required.

He was fitted with a brace for his right leg. He has a slight fracture on his right knee. This brace reminds me of the one Forrest Gump wore when he was a little boy. This will keep pressure off the knee while it knits itself back together.

On Wednesday afternoon he was taken to the rehab floor where he shares a room with a gentleman from Clayton who suffered a stroke several weeks ago. He is not allowed visitors until 4 pm. They will be working with him on his finger extension, moving his arm and learning to walk, etc with the leg brace. Right now his right arm will bend about 40 degrees. He cannot put his right hand to his chest.

His spirits are wonderful. He is aware of his surroundings and why he is there. He remembers what he has been told about the last 2 weeks when his memory was gone. He is determined to get out of the hospital as soon as possible and get home to take care of himself. His brain functions are back but right now are just a bit slower than usual, but that will improve with time.

The nurses and doctors and our family and friends cannot believe the swiftness of his recovery. It is miraculous and I attribute that to Doug's stubborn determination to get well, coupled with the many, many prayers from friends, family and strangers that have been sent our way during this difficult time. Thank you is not enough. I can thank those of you in this email today. And, I thank God every day and night for you and for those who I do not know. Prayer is indeed powerful.

Doug has many faithful friends who have visited every day and/or rotated their visits. There is a 'Doug Hot Line' to keep them all informed. Their care and support has been a tremendous help to Doug in getting his mind wrapped around this event and to me personally. As Blanche DuBois would say: 'I have relied on the kindness of strangers.' These guys and gals are no longer strangers. They are in my heart and are now part of my extended family.

Doug's address is:

Just an update on my brother Greg Sadler - Had eye surgery on both eyes May 1, talked to his wife and in one eye he should regain his sight he had before, the other eye they were able to do very little. He may have some recovery in that eye but they do not think it will be much. The doctors will know more when he goes for his follow up. If he can regain sight in one eye that will be great as he could not see anything before.
Continue to keep him in your prayers as he re coupes not only from the fall but the surgery as  well. Theresa Cook

April 2008 Prayer Requests

Hello prayer warriors,     Your prayers were heard and answered!!! I am sure many of you have already had some news regarding Ella’s surgery, but in case there are some that haven’t I wanted to send a quick update. Ella did wonderful during the surgery and there were no complications. The doctors were pleased with their results and I believe I read they removed about 70% of the tumor. Ella awoke from surgery and immediately recognized her daddy and mommy and had only a few bouts of nausea. She has been improving each day and more of her tubes are being taken off of her. She has been eating fruit loops and popsicles so she has slowly been getting her appetite back. So in a nutshell, little Ella the trooper has once again amazed them with her ability to recover and handle everything she has been through with flying colors. Please continue to pray that her recovery continues to progress and that she will have no difficulties or complications these next several weeks.
Thank you all again for participating in Ella’s prayer vigil! How exciting to see how God has heard us and has answered our prayers. Please remember to thank our loving God for his answers to our prayers. May the peace of our Lord and Savior be with you all,    Karen Gibson

April 27, 2008 at 07:33 PM EDT
Just a quick update to say that Ella has had another good day. She only has one IV left in her foot and that will be coming out tomorrow, but her port will be accessed and used. They had a family fun day down in the lobby of the hospital today (it's a big lobby) and Ella got to see some clowns, decorate a cookie, and get a few goodies. There were plenty of things to do and even some magicians and musicians. We wheeled her down there and a nurse went with us because of her external shunt. She was tired, but seemed to enjoy herself. She has also played some games and been eating and drinking a little. She is also off of IV fluids which is nice and they started working on weaning her off the external shunt to see how she does. So far, so good. Tomorrow she will start getting up and moving around more and doing a little physical therapy to help regain strength. We are SO, SO happy with her progress and feel like prayers have been answered in so many ways. Thanks again for everything, we cannot tell you how much we appreciate it. Take care and God Bless, Amy

Please continue to pray for Mike Clayton, HR racer who was burned at Rockingham Spring Nats 4-18-08. He has received one skin graft but will have to have another. Remembe him and Michelle as they are in Chapel Hill NC and their home is in TN.  Update:  Mike is still in the hospital in Chapel Hill.  He celebrated his birthday there 4-28-08.  He still has a couple of days there before he is well enough to make the trip home.  Continue to pray for healing.   4-29-08

ONE MINUTE EACH NIGHT During WWII, there was an advisor to Churchill who organized a group of people who dropped what they were doing every night at a prescribed hour for one minute to collectively pray for the safety of England, its people and peace. This had an amazing effect as bombing stopped.

There is now a group of people organizing the same thing here in America ..

If you would like to participate: each evening at 9:00 PM Eastern Time (8:00 PM Central, 7:00 PM Mountain, 6:00 PM Pacific), stop whatever you are doing and spend one minute praying for the up-coming election, and for the revival of Christianity in this great country.

Jerry Blazier has an appointment to remove a cancer mole from his nose 4-29-08.

His heart is weak, but he is showing some improvement each day.  The doctors say that Greg is now blind and cannot see out of either eye, possibly from falling face forward when he passed out. The doctors say after he is stronger they will do surgery to see if they can repair any damage. Please pray for him. At 52 years old he has been through so much and needs all of us now.  Continue to pray for him as he gets better, but has a long road to healing.

Rev. Bill Dickerson's wife Jean is still having trouble with her foot.  His brother goes through tests today to see if he is still cancer free.  Pray for healing for both.

There is no more treatment for Lindsey, no more medicines, no more needles, no more surgeries, no more radiation. Dear Joe,
Thank you ALL, again, for your prayers for Tanner. We spoke with Jon & Shelly late last night when they got home from Cook Children's Hospital. Here is Shelly's letter explaining everything. God has certainly answered prayer that there are NO TUMORS nor BULGING blood vessels, which is what they were so afraid of. God has some special things for this little guy and God is preparing him and healing and protecting him RIGHT NOW. We do very much value your prayers and concern wish that you tell this to your prayer group also. We appreciate them very much and Tanner loves his prayer quilt so much.
Please convey our appreciation to all those who have been praying for our little Tanner. As you see from the letter, there are NO TUMORS and NO ANEURYSM or any other acute problems, like was thought. If there was, God has certainly healed him, which HE CAN and DOES do.
God brought him into the Christian home of our children and we just feel privileged to share in a very small way in seeing God at work. So many in our family are now becoming involved in the deaf community and helping lead deaf children and families to the Lord. Tanner is the main reason for all of this. We want him to live to be a part of this and it looks like God wants him to live and not suffer.
Thank you again, for your prayers,
Jon & Carolen

Tanner update:  Thank you for continuing to pray for Tanner and his headaches. Our prayers were answered in that the headaches have mostly seemed to subside with the Topamax in the last week or so, but, he has continued to have the dilated pupils. We went to Ft. Worth yesterday to see another neurologist for a second opinion. He seems to think the headaches are migraines being controlled now by the Topamax. He feels the pupils could be a reaction to pain. Since he's still having the dilated pupils and not complaining of pain, we're not sure about this, but, we were definitely reassured that the headaches and pupils are not any sort of tumor or aneurysm or anything in the brain, or any other acute problems. We are thankful to have these results and hope that the headaches stay at bay and his body gets used to the Topamax soon. We have a follow up appointment in April with our regular neurologist in Temple.
Thanks again for your thoughts and prayers,
Love,       Jon, Shelly & Tanner

Please pray for Dwayne, Christy & Levi Rice.  Dwayne's mother, Evelyn, passed away Friday afternoon.  3-14-08.
