Daily Wisdom - God Almighty   June 29, 2009

And God said to him, “Your name is Jacob; your name shall not be called Jacob anymore, but Israel shall be your name.” So He called his name Israel. Also God said to him: “I am God Almighty. Be fruitful and multiply; a nation and a company of nations shall proceed from you, and kings shall come from your body. The land which I gave Abraham and Isaac I give to you; and to your descendants after you I give this land.” Genesis 35:10-12

Names are important.  Three days ago we read where God’s names describe His attributes.  God states here that He is God ALMIGHTY.  Think on that.  Nothing is great or mightier than God.  Nothing!  Yet too many Christians are living substandard lives because they give greater credence to the devil than to God.  Change the way you think:  God is God ALMIGHTY!!!  That’s wisdom!

Vision
It is our vision to build a community of faith within the family of racers:   the participants, sponsors, officials and fans. It is our desire that every person at an  event be made aware of the salvation Jesus Christ died to purchase for them and to give them the opportunity to accept or decline that gift so freely offered to them. We also wish to build the faith and knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ in those who profess Jesus as Savior. We want them to be aware of the inheritance that is theirs here in this life as well as in eternity. We want to help them walk in the abundance of life that Jesus came to give them, to experience the ultimate victory that every racer and person seeks.

IN MEMORY OF SHIRLEY BLANKENSHIP:  IHRA official Shirley Blankenship passed away in her sleep, April 29, 2009.  Please be in prayer for her husband Hank.

Hank's address is  Hank Blankenship,  P.O. Box 575,  Big Rock, VA  24603

Notice of deaths:  Rev. Bill Dickerson's sister-in-law, Elene passed away Wednesday afternoon around 4:00 p.m.  Please be in prayer for them.

Chaplain Carol Rix's father passed away around 10:00 p.m. Wednesday night.  Please be in prayer for her family as well.

What it is:  A program to reward children for acting in the character of Jesus Christ. We want to incite them to outrageously good deeds.

How it works:  Each child will be given a Kids on Track t-shirt at the first service they attend. We will record who has gotten a t-shirt to ensure that no one gets left out or doubled up. The kids will be able to earn iron-on patches for their t-shirts if an adult “catches them in the act” of one of the deeds below. Many of the patches can be earned during Children’s Church in which case an adult nomination is not needed. Adults may nominate children for deeds done at the track or at home. We would like to establish this as an on-going lifestyle. Children are encouraged to be creative!   details.....

Greg Slack's battle with Mantel Cell Lymphoma

Dear Friends and Family,
I created a CaringBridge site to keep you up to date on Greg  Slack. CaringBridge is a nonprofit organization that helps friends and families stay connected.   You can visit Greg 's CaringBridge site at http://www.caringbridge.org/visit/gregslack .

It's our time to help!  Since Greg's diagnosis in October, the racing community has been in prayer for Greg's healing.  You have also showered him with cards, letters, and phone calls to encourage him.  By God's answers to prayer and Greg's sponsors, Greg was able to get back to the track.  But each time I have asked about establishing a medical fund, the answer was "we're okay."  Until now. Now the financial worries are interfering with Greg's recovery.  Here is where we can HELP in his physical recovery and financial recovery.  God Speed Ministry has established a fund for friends and fans to make donations to help Greg Slack with the mounting medical bills.

GREG SLACK MEDICAL FUND

You can donate online, at the track or by mail:

I wonder how many of our personal contacts would come to Jesus if only we asked or invited them to—even if it is through giving or sending them an attractive and appropriate piece of gospel literature, or sending and recommending the web address of a suitable gospel web site. From Donna Harper:  Open letter to all who prayed for my grandson
Thank you so much to everyone for your prayers for my grandson, Mason. He is now doing much better. In the past two weeks, he has spent more time in the hospital than at home, with his tonsils being taken out, his reaction to the anesthesia, being in intensive care and not breathing, going back to the hospital with pneumonia, and now the emergency room with a reaction to the antibiotics he was given for the pneumonia.
Being a special needs child and being unable to speak and let us know how he feels, this has been a very stressful time for him and for our family. Being only seven years old and not understanding what’s going on is very difficult on the little guy. He knows he was feeling lousy but doesn’t know why.
With everyone’s prayers and concern, he is now on his way to a full recovery. My family is extremely grateful to everyone who took the time to pray for Mason. Without the Lord’s intervention, we are all afraid of what may have happened. Thankfully, all of our prayers were answered and Mason is still with us today. I cannot thank you enough.  6-22-09

Please be in prayer for Marc Kinton's grandmother who was placed in the hospital Sunday morning. 6-21-09

Please remember Greg Slack in your prayers this week as he goes back for his scan.6-22-09

Update on Colton Pettit from Janee Dickerson:  Praise Report!!!!! - remember the prayer request that I sent out a week ago or so about this little boy? He's doing much, much better!!! Colton is doing wonderful.
We are hoping he gets to go home tomorrow. It is hard to believe that 1week ago today we almost lost our precious little boy.

Please be in Preacher Bill Dickerson and his family this morning as they lay his sister-in-law, Elene Dickerson, to rest at 10:00 a.m. Friday in Baltimore MD.  6-19-09

From Chaplain Carol Rix:  My Dad is being cremated and there will only be a memorial service at the Funeral Home.  We don't know when yet!  He was a WWll Veteran with a purple heart, so we will have military honors for him too.  (Please pray for Carol as she and Tom are traveling to MN today.  Pray for Mike Imhoff as he fills in for her at the Byron Pro Am this weekend.)  6-19-09

From Mike Tritle:
1.  We need to keep Barb, our next door neighbor in our prayers.  Today has been a rough day.  The heart is doing ok but she has lost 17 lbs. in the last 4 days and has no energy at all.  Even pushing fluids is not working so they're coming out tomorrow to take some blood.  Please pray that the doctors will find what's causing her setback and with God's direction, get her back on track to recovery.
2.  Mom is doing well with the knee.  Is committed to therapy as she has a wedding to play the keyboard for on the 27th.  That's the target she's aiming at to motivate her.  She told me to thank you all for your prayers and to tell you they are working!  Pretty amazing lady for 80 years young!  Praise God for His healing hand!  6-19-09

Pray for safety at the Rockingham Pro Am this weekend where temperatures are supposed to be in the 100's.  6-19-09

Pray for all the race events this weekend and the chaplains ministering at them.  May God's Kingdom increase!  6-19-09

From Chaplain Carol Rix:   My Dad went peacefully, home to be with the Lord last night around 10:00 p.m.  Thank you for your prayers!  It will be hard to be at the track this weekend, so need your prayers for this too!  God Bless you all and thank you! 6-18-09

From Steve Corker:  Just got off the phone with Mom.  The pet-scan did not give us the results we were expecting.  She will go back next Wednesday for more test.  She requested that we agree with her that the test will be negative.  God is bigger than any mountain!!  Thank you for your prayers.  6-18-09

Remember Rev. Bill Dickerson & Jean as they travel to Maryland for the funeral of his sister-in-law, Elene.  Also remember Elene's husband Lester.  6-18-09

From Rev. Bill Dickerson:  Please put me & Jean in your prayers. I just got the news that my sister-in law passed at about  4 this afternoon.   We will leave as soon as possible.  Thanks in advance for your prayers for us and my brother Lester and his family.  Elene was a great friend also.  6-17-09

Please pray for  Al Burkett, IHRA Div 9 Top Dragster Racer, from Richmond VA, his mom is in the hospital with Emphysema, congestive heart failure, plus lung cancer. The doctors have done all they can do at this point. Please pray for him and his family to get through this difficult time. 6-17-09

From Chaplain Carol Rix:  Please pray for my Dad.  We put him in a NH a week ago last Friday and he did great for one week.  Last Friday he would not get out of bed or wake up.  He's stopped eating entirely and is not taking any fluids.  The doctors give him two weeks at the most.  He signed a DNR when he went into the NH!  So we have Comfort Care for him right now and praying he is pain free (which he is right now), and God will take him home.  He is a believer and is saved!  I will be traveling to Minnesota on the 23rd and am praying he will be here until then if it be God's Will.  If not I will see him in heaven!  PTL!  Thank You! 6-17-09

From Chaplain Joe Sannutti:  Tom White, owner of the "War Horse" Vega since 1990, has been diagnosed with cancer. It's widespread and the outlook is very dim. Please lift him in your prayers. 6-17-09

Please be in prayer for TS Racer George Chitwood who had surgery on his eye and the recovery is not as hoped. 6-16-09

Please pray for Wilson Crapps (Chaplain Debbie Sannutti's father) who is in the hospital with health issues. 6-16-09

Please remember the family and team members of Rick Manns who died of a heart attack Saturday June 13, 2009. Rick was a team member of the TF Bob Leverich/ Smax Smith team. Rick was also very close friends with Gary & Bill Leverich. Please pray for God's comfort for them during this time of grieving. Rick was only 50 years old. 6-16-09

From Janee Dickerson: 4 year old Colton Pettit, is in Texas Children's Hospital. He has been diagnosed with Myocarditis, a condition where the muscular walls of the heart become inflamed. The concerns are whether or not it has been caught in time to avoid permanent damage to the heart as well as being susceptible to more infections. He's very weak and his heart beat is erratic. He's still in a lot of danger - so lift up this boy in prayer! Once he recovers, this active 4 year old must have complete bed rest for weeks to months. Please pray for wisdom for the hospital staff, healing, peace and comfort for the family and this little boy. Thank you Jesus! 6-16-09

Update on Mason from Donna Harper: Thank you for all the prayers. They really worked. Mason was released from the hospital Sunday night. He went home with antibiotics and the nurses taught Valerie how to give him his breathing treatments. He finally was able to eat something yesterday. On Friday, they thought that the pneumonia may have damaged his heart and did a echocardiogram on Saturday. On Sunday, right before he was released, the doctor came in and said the test came back negative – no heart damage. That is extremely good news. I am very happy to say that he is home and, hopefully, there will be no more helicopter or ambulance rides for him in the near future. 6-15-09

Continue to pray for Terry Wingate of Renegade Trailers as he mourns the passing of his mother May 30th.  6-15-09

Pray for Mark Pawuk's mother who has health concerns.  6-15-09

Mason is being admitted back to the hospital.  He has developed pneumonia.  Please say a prayer for him. 6-12-09

From our partners in Christ in Pakistan: Urgent Prayer Request As you know that God has provided us the land for the church and school. We have built church and school. Now we have to registered this land (31 Marlas). We have to pay the property registration fee on dated 13 June 2009 to the government US$ 1000.00. We have in our hand US$ 500.00. Please urgent pray, may God provide us US$ 500.00 for paying the property registration fee to the government. I am thankful to you because whenever you prayed for us God has answered. Thanks for your prayers. God bless you! Your brother, Ps Sadiq Sarfraz. 6-11-09

UPdate on Mason Thursday: Please continue to pray for Mason. He is getting better, but still won’t eat or drink anything much – but he’s home! It will take a little while for his throat to heal enough so it won’t hurt him when he swallows. Prayer is so powerful – I wish everyone knew that. (Note from Renee - Mason has Angelman's Syndrome which has made all of this much harder than normal.)  6-11-09

Praise Report from Debbie LaRue: Debbie just got the news from pet scans that the cancer is the same and no new growths, isn't that wonderful our GOD is so good.....She has to have blood tomorrow but just wanted to let everyone know the wonderful blessing....Love, Frank LaRue  6-11-09

Update on Mason Wednesday afternoon: Boy, the power of prayer! The doctors dropped Mason’s medication in half so that he would wake up to see how he was doing. He ate some applesauce and is grouchy which is a good sign! The doctor said that he is doing better than he expected, and they’ve taken him off oxygen for now and he is on room air. They may put him back on oxygen, but for now they’re watching to see how he does. Those prayers are working miracles! Thank you.
Update on Mason Thursday morning: Thank you. Please pass on to your prayer chain – last night, Mason was released from the hospital! Chain of events – Tuesday morning he had his tonsils and adenoids taken out, within a few hours, he stopped breathing. The second time he stopped breathing, he was air lifted to Phoenix Children’s Hospital and placed in PICU for at least 5 days. That night, he stopped breathing again – that was Tuesday night. His lung then started to fill with fluid. Wednesday, he was taken off the sedation, ate a little applesauce, doctor said he was doing much better than hoped (prayer chain was started Wednesday). Wednesday afternoon, he was cruising the PICU hospital corridor in a wagon, and was then released from the hospital! Who said prayer isn’t powerful!!!! THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU to everyone for all of your prayers. They worked a real miracle! 6-11-09

From Rev. Bill Dickerson: Alesi & Duane Gerthe will be traveling to the national event in Tulsa today. Ayrton and I will not be able to attend this event. Alesi will be doing a display with her dragster for IHRA and Wolverine at Academy Thursday afternoon and of course traveling and racing at this event. Please remember Alesi and Duane in your prayers. 6-11-09

Please remember Rev.Bill Dickerson and his family in your prayers. Bill's sister-in-law Elene has been given less than 20 days to live. This is very heart-wrenching for the family. Also remember Elene's husband Lester (Bill's brother) as he watches his beloved wife fade from this life as the cancer ravages her body. Pray for all as they travel the valley of the shadow of death.  6-11-09

URGENT REQUEST From Donna Harper: Please pray for my grandson Mason. After a seemingly uneventful tonsil and adenoid surgery, he stopped breathing twice and one of his lungs is filling up with fluid. He was life flighted to Phoenix Children’s Hospital last night and will be in Pediatric Intensive Care in a negative atmosphere room for at least a week. Please keep him in your prayers. Thank you.    6-10-09

From Bill Beagle: Please add Bo Butner who is one of the regular national sportsman winners suffered a leg injury not related to racing at the RT 66 Nationals. Bo had surgery and was released Monday morning. I have no further information.  6-10-09

From Jimmy Berley: Please put my wife Debbie on the prayer list she is 6 months out of treatment for lung cancer. She had 39 radiation treatments and chemo at the same time and missed only one day of work the entire time. Doctor was very impressed with her. She is a person of great faith and trust and believes God will heal her totally. We were at the spring nationals together as this was her first trip back to a track since her cancer.   6-10-09

Please pray for the Sooner Nationals at Tulsa OK this weekend and for the Chaplains ministering there: Gary & Renee Bingham, Joey Keith, Sylvia & Tommy Maedgen.  6-10-09

New requests are posted here.  To see all prayer requests, click here: prayer list.

John 1:1-5

In the beginning the Word already existed. He was with God, and he was God. 2He was in the beginning with God. 3He created everything there is. Nothing exists that he didn't make. 4Life itself was in him, and this life gives light to everyone. 5The light shines through the darkness, and the darkness can never extinguish it.

Ephesians 4:3-6

3Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace. 4There is one body and one Spirit–just as you were called to one hope when you were called– 5one Lord, one faith, one baptism; 6one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all.
